Trauma Therapy

Healing trauma begins with understanding that trauma is a normal response to abnormal experiences. The word trauma comes from the Greek word meaning “wound,” and whether we are aware of it or not, our wounds—and the ways we learned to cope with them—often shape our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships.

Trauma can change the neural pathways in the brain and impact how the nervous system responds to the world. The hopeful truth is that the brain is capable of healing. New neural pathways can be formed through safety, connection, and supportive relationships. In trauma therapy, relationships are powerful agents of change.

Healing Emotional Eating

Emotional eating is something almost everyone experiences at times. We often celebrate or socialize with food, and we sometimes turn to it when feeling stressed, sad, or overwhelmed. Emotional eating exists on a continuum—some people do it occasionally, while for others, it becomes a primary way to cope with emotions.

When food becomes the main tool for self-soothing or managing emotions, it can lead to both emotional and physical distress. At the extreme end of this spectrum, emotional eating may contribute to conditions like Binge Eating Disorder or Bulimia.

Grief and Loss

Working with clients on their unique grief journeys is my passion. Grief counseling is rooted in the belief that grief is often misunderstood in our culture, and that honoring our losses is essential to long-term emotional health, healing, and well-being.

No one moves through life without experiencing loss. While some losses are considered “natural,” they are no less painful or deserving of care, attention, and compassion. These may include children growing up and leaving home, retiring from a meaningful career, or the death of an elderly loved one after a full life. Even expected losses can bring deep sadness and deserve to be felt, witnessed, and honored.

Other losses feel sudden, unfair, or overwhelming. These traumatic or unexpected losses—such as the death of a child, becoming a young widow or widower, surviving a natural disaster, or experiencing a life-altering trauma—can feel unimaginable to endure. And yet, the human spirit has an extraordinary capacity to grieve, adapt, and heal.

Brainspotting

A gentle and effective way to work through trauma, anxiety, grief, and emotional pain. This approach is based on the idea that your brain and body already know how to heal—you just need the right support and a safe space to let it happen.

Life Transition

Life transitions can feel unsettling—even when they are expected or long-awaited. Major changes often bring a mix of emotions, questions about identity, and a sense that the ground beneath you has shifted.
